The IRS Returns to Florida

They’re baaaack. After 4 1/2 months of no activity, the IRS will be back in Florida on February 1. None of the Revenue Officers (who are the collectors) or the Revenue Agents (who are the auditors) physically left the state, but they have been quiet.

The IRS Returns to Florida

After Hurricane Irma in September, a disaster declaration was issued in all 67 counties of Florida. The IRS was told to back off all taxpayers until February 1, 2018. The good news for delinquent taxpayers is that the IRS has not contacted them or made any demands for payment or financial information. There have been no lien filings or levies of wages and bank accounts.

During this time, I have still been working with the IRS on cases, but only when I contact them first. I have been able to get cases resolved for better than usual deals.

What is not known is exactly how aggressive the IRS will be in February. Most of them have undoubtedly been chomping at the bit to get back into action.

I look forward to the telephone calls and the visits to my office. I am anxious to get letters with crazy demands and threats. I am sure that I am alone in missing them.
